Facilitating relationships and familiarity through meaningful interactions

Residents living with dementia are supported in building personal relationships and connections with all residing members of the Park View Care Home community and our wider Suffolk location. All of our residents are invited to create a ‘life story’ when they come to stay with us, which have proved to be touching and engaging resources for reminiscence.

We maintain a detailed and compassionate understanding of our residents’ lives and histories to be able to support them with more meaningful, familiar and fulfilling communication. This includes everything down to the activities they have loved, family memories and some of their favourite meals.

A dementia-friendly environment in peaceful surroundings

Apart from the physiological realities of dementia, the psychological toll is in many cases even more difficult to cope with. To do so requires a level of care, expertise, community, and comfort that many families simply cannot provide at home. At Park View Care Home, we have implemented a Living Well with Dementia strategy and work hard to provide both the physical and emotional support to our residents living with dementia.

When designing the Park View Care Home, it was important to us that we created a dementia-friendly environment that would help residents in maintaining a happy and independent lifestyle that is as stress-free as possible. We achieved this with balanced colour schemes, easy to understand wayfinding, and points of interest to create a safe space that feels comfortable and homely. Additional facilities to support quality dementia care include E-mar for electronic systems, PIR lighting and individualised person-centred sensor and lighting in every specialist dementia room.
